Leduc Clubhouse

Architecture shaped by landscape and movement

This concept design for a golf clubhouse in the Edmonton area is driven by a series of clear architectural moves that respond directly to the site. The building is oriented to follow existing circulation patterns while opening primary interior spaces toward views of surrounding trees, water features, and key course moments at the 9th, 18th, and 1st tees. A central feature wall establishes a strong organizing element within the plan, forming a linear spine that guides movement through the building as a continuation of the outdoor pedestrian network and connection to the existing footbridge. Program is deliberately divided along this spine into two equal halves, allowing the building massing, entries, and interior relationships to be shaped by use rather than symmetry. Large roof overhangs and controlled openings further reinforce the building’s relationship to climate, views, and the landscape.

The clubhouse is conceived as more than a single purpose building, functioning as both the social heart of the golf course and a year round destination for private events. By giving everyday golf operations and venue use equal importance, the design supports simultaneous activity without compromise. Clear circulation, separated entries, and flexible interior planning allow the building to adapt to daily play, large banquets, and seasonal outdoor use. Reusing the footprint of existing foundations for sunken cart storage reduces site disruption while improving operational efficiency. Covered outdoor edges and banquet decks extend the experience into the landscape, reinforcing a strong connection between architecture, course, and climate. The result is a clubhouse that responds to its setting, supports long term flexibility, and elevates the overall identity and functionality of the golf course.
